I did a post a few days ago about this school in response to another school. You probably could do a lot better than Yeon Sei (avoid split shifts at all costs!)...I'll just copy and paste the URL for the thread I posted on here...consider yourself warned.

About Kumi itself, it has a population of about 330000 or so, and is 30 minutes away from Daegu by train. There are a lot of big electronic factories there so there is a large number of Korean engineers and business studying english, and thus ESL teachers, about 150 or so...the numbers might have down a little though I heard there was a big drug bust that snapped a few, might explain the vacancy at Yeon Sei! Most of the ex-pats get together at Psycho, a nightclub in the downtown area but it's a bit of a sleazy joint.
There is'nt a hell of a lot to see or do in Kumi though besides walking up Kumo-san, the neighbouring mountain. Kumi has 3 or 4 cinemas, 2 or 3 reasonable size supermarkets and department stores. If the shopping is'nt enough for you then then Daegu is nearby. It's quite central to Korea, about 3 hours to Pusan, 3.5 to Seoul. Gyeongju and Gimchon are'nt far away either.
Galbi-mart, in Hyeong-gok dong opposite Odyessey (where Yeon Sei house most of their teachers) do the best pork galbi...that's what I miss most about Kumi! |
