Ok, I've been having a lot of fun in the social deparment lately...

One of my Korean co-workers took me out to hang with some of her Korean girlfriends and a few foreigners. One of the Korean girls turned out to be a celebrity. I talked to the woman a while before someone told me that she was a "star" here. Her name is Han Go Un:

http://image.search.daum.net/cgi-bin/nsp/search.cgi?w=image_one&q=%C7%D1%B0%ED%C0%BA&first=17&image_range=1

As we left the first bar we were at, I realized that everyone was watching us and pointing, talking. Many said, "hi" to her as we walked by their tables.

Anyway, she was totally cool, and ended up taking us to a fun Karoke bar in Apkujeong with private rooms. She footed the bill for the whole thing (the alcohol alone was at least 350,000).

She is really cool, and speaks excellent English because she lived in Orange County, California for a long time. VERY westernized girl -- much more Western than Korean for sure.

We had some interesting talks about Korean culture (she said some very non-Koreanly honest things) dating Korean girls (she told me not to trust them *laugh*), and other stuff.

Funnier thing, she kept telling me she wants me to change my hairstyle, and told me twice to call her. I'm actually going to take her up on that one, because i'm curious what she has in mind. By the way, her boyfriend is one of the guys from the boy-band G.O.D. . Not sure where that is these days, though. No -- I wouldn't have a chance, anyway. We're not each others type, but would be good friends-material.

It was sure weird signing Karoke with her as one of the videos she is in came up on screen.

I kick myself for not bringing my digital camera!!!!

Cool adventure!

I remember when I first came to Korea I met some Korean celebrities, but at the time had NO idea who they were.

One of the guys I met was Joong-Hoon Park. At the time he was a really famous Korean actor...I was like 1-2months in country and had NO IDEA who he was until after the night.

I'd say call her up. I regret I lost the number of this director I used to drink with. Guy had ALL kinds of connections.

Knowing you, Derrek, this can only end with one of her bodyguards getting you in a chokehold. Wink

Dude, you're totally into this girl. What's the real reason?

I would be intimidated I'm sure. But there comes a time when you have to pull yourself up by the cock and GO FOR IT! You never know how it may turn out.

No, actually her manager showed up after the first hour. When she started to get really trashed (as many were there) he whisked her away. I did talk to the manager a bit. He was a nice guy, but was very obviously "at work", and seemed bored as hell.

No, guys... I know you're all over me because I said, "she's not my type", but she really isn't. She's a very outgoing, dance-on-the tables type of gal (yes, she did that) that was flirty/friendly with just about everyone. I am sort of a quiet-type of guy at times, and I tend to like a gal I can just sit and hang with, talk and people-watch for a while.

She is someone I'd love to have as a friend though. Besides, I've got a gal these days. Smile

Oh, and btw, I hear that she and the G.O.D. singer broke off the engagement, although I think they are back dating.

I thought she was really cool, and very interesting. I came to this conclusion before I found out she was a celebrity here.

She is interesting because she is one of the VERY few Koreans I've met who is dead-honest about her answers to things. She said some very honest things about her feelings of life and culture in Korea which I found refreshing. Usually when I tell a Korean about the problems I've experienced in Korea, or observed, they are quick to respond, "Oh no... it's not that way... you just met some bad people and are unlucky."

Her responses were very different, and markedly more in line with what I've actually observed while living here.

Interesting story. So who is this girl? Am I the only one who doesn't recognize her name? Is she a singer? Actress? Model? Or just one of those "society" chicks who seems to be popular for no particular reason?

I have a link to her photos above. Apparently, she's been in some TV Dramas or something, and models for stuff. Her recent relationship with a signer from a group called, "G.O.D." has been news, I hear.

And it was weird to be singing Karoke with her, and see her pop up on the screen in the video. Not sure who the group was though.

I laughed, because her photo was on the popup on MSN when I logged in yesterday.

I just checked out your website. Pretty nice stuff.

One question. How did you go from being bald to having a full head of hair?

Is that a wig?
