Do you need to do a visa run to switch from an E2 to an E1? My employer will stay the same.

According to the immigration website no criminal record check, health check etc. are needed. Is this still correct?

My co-worker who did this in August was required to do a visa run. I'm not certain if anything has changed since then.

Your passport is stamped with the type of visa you have. If you change visa types, you must physically get a new visa and the only way to do that is to leave the country, I believe.
