I finally got my ARC card so now i can make a bank account!
But I was just wondering which Banks you would recommend. I'm looking for a Bank that will allow you to transfer money to our home (US) bank account smoothly.
I've heard some banks (don't have specific names) gives you a hard time when you try to transfer money.
I was thinking about Korean Exchange Bank (KEB) since it's near my school. Since banks close at 5pm... I can still make it after i get off of work at 4:30. Any good/bad comments of KEB? What other banks would you guys recommend? |

| I am very pleased with KEB, but I guess it's all about who you know and who they know you know. I have a foreign remittance account and have almost no reason to go to the bank during business hours. (Ok, I filled up a passbook and got a new one today, but I just happened to be passing by the bank.) |

I believe Woori Bank has now automated everything (including overseas money transfers). Transactions can be done online, and the website is in English. I haven't tried the website yet, but I've heard good things about it. I have, however, been a member of Woori Bank for a few years, and have had relatively few problems (besides the common annoyances of banking in Korea).
"...Why you need online banking??? You FOREIGNER...!!" ~ Credit for this quote should be given to the manager at my local Kookmin Bank...
The best thing is finding a bigger branch of a bank, as the chances of having smooth transactions increases with the size of the bank. The little branches may be less adept at handling 'foreigner' needs. |

I second Woori bank. The online service is top notch and doesn't require as many additional add-ons as other Korean banking sites. I've heard KEB is good too.
Stay away from Citbank Korea. Not only are there very few branches, you'd never know they were owned by an American company. Very foreigner-unfriendly. |
