Anyone with expereince on the process. How about if you want to transfer to a new school in another province? Is it wise to contact your recruiter or a new recruiter? What to expect in terms of salary for my 2nd year? Negotiating new start date? and other benefits?
What to be aware of and any other pointers will be appreciated.

stay with the same employer...
If you wish to renew your contract at your current school, you will need the following documents ;
1. Visa Extension Application
2. Passport and your Alien Registration Card
3. New contract
4. Sponsorship Certificate (from school)
5. A copy of Certificate of School / Business Registration (from school)
6. Processing Fee
7. New Criminal Record Certificate (if you have not submitted one to immigration already.)
8. New Health Check Certificate (if you haven't submitted one to immigration already).
IF you are changing employers then there are several potential scenarios you may encounter:
1) new job - new visa (you will need to begin the visa process all over again). This means a visa run.
2) concurrent running contracts and an LOR from your old employer - possible transfer of visa from one sponsor to the next.
3) changing provinces - see #1.
If #1, then your new start date is whenever you want it to be.
IF #2, then your contracts run concurrently and there is NO lapse time between them.
As to a recruiter... pick 3 or 4 and look for the best opportunity you can find. Go to the school, check it out BEFORE you commit to anything.
Be sure to negotiate the visa run costs (including hotel, etc) housing, holidays and other benefits to your satisfaction before you commit.
Know what you are worth in the market place and bargain accordingly.

what's reasonable to expect as a 2nd year elem. teacher in Korea as far as salary, vacation, apartment...
Who pays more GEPIK, EPIK or other? |

Who's your visa sponsor? Your school or school district?
If everyone else is happy with your work at your school they likely won't like your request for a transfer. |

If you don't have a TEFL certicate I believe you'll still be on level 3 with GEPIK. So that's 2mill/month. As far as apartments go, it's really a crapshoot depending on the school. In terms of vacation, the EPIK standard is 14 working days, while GEPIK offers 20. If you are willing to go rural, GEPIK will bump this to 25 working days (and throw in an extra 100K/month) while some EPIK Juristictions will offer as much as 35working days and an extra 200K rural+provincial allowance.
Going rural with GEPIK can vary from being stuck in the middle of a rice paddy 1 hour from anything to being in a location defined as a "suburban" by Western standards, and being 10-15minutes away from a really busy area such as Suwon Station. |
