Obama wins both ways.

But to anwer your question, logically, of course.

Rousseau (and Stephen Colbert when he talks about 'truthiness') says emotion is the way to go.

It's my contention that people vote their value system and their value system is not 'logical'. In my opinion, people use logic to find and assert reasons to support their value system. I believe it is called rationalization. People do not argue much at all about 'facts' like how many stories the 63-builiding has. They argue endlessly about which movie star is sexier. The most partisan posters on this board work tirelessly to find 'objective' reasons to support their preference.

It's a false division.

The "rational choice" debate. Good luck in resolving it on this messageboard.

I believe that your opinion about this might be skewed by the framework of emotions that inhabit your value system. You need to examine this in a logical manner and confront the contradictions entangled there. Unfortunately, any attempt to do so will also be skewed by the same emotional framework. Sort of sad, really. Not sure how we can solve this.

People do not argue much at all about 'facts' like how many stories the 63-builiding has.

Many Koreans will claim that the edifice was originally designed to have 64 floors, but there was sinkage during construction that led to an additional floor of the parking garage. Other Koreans dispute this vehemently as a vile N Korean lie meant to subvert our superior way of life. I have seen blood spilled in pochang machas in the wee hours over this matter of a hypothetical "64-Building.".

People argue about facts all the time. There are large numbers of people who think carbon-dating is a quaint superstition, and that a woman once gave birth to a child without having sex. There have even been reports of world leaders urging the murder of entire populations of people for refusing to understand the verity of their 'facts."

This is foolish, of course, although despite the wealth of scientific evidence it's true that there are some who continue to doubt the awesomeness of Jessica Alba, and some even think that Angelina Jolie and Kirsten Dunst have some claim - ridiculous as it sounds - to some come anywhere close. When I hear such opinions, I feel anything else the person might say on any other matter might be also untrustworthy to some similar degree. It is my fond hope that in a better world such people will never be allowed to operate heavy machinery.

That's half the fun. Shh. You're giving the game away.
