|
|
The election is over, at least for 2008. The conservative-evangelicals have won, and already have their sights set on 2012, with President Sarah Palin as the 45th President of the United States. Whether they expect her to be running for re-election or election at that point is unclear, and would depend on the health of John McCain, 44th President of the United States.

President Palin in 2012
After days of misogynist and elitist attacks by her opponents, Sarah Palin delivered a speech that was substantial and given with poise, humour and rhetorical flourish. Hurricane Palin swept through the Republican Convention in a way that few imagined.
She successfully turned the tables on her critics by standing up for small town America and stuck the boot into the Obama Campaign for inverted snobbery. This was a speech that reached out to Reagan Democrats. Hard working, small 'c' Conservative, aspirational voters, concerned about the Washington elite.
Mrs Palin showed that she was not afraid to take on her enemies and that she is no patsy. She also illustrated a deep attachment to Conservative values but showed that she would challenge the Republican establishment when wrong. The Vice Presidential Candidate also demonstrated a deep understanding of the threats of a resurgent Russia by her comments about the Russian activities in Georgia and elswehere. Even a former Clinton operative, Howard Wilson, interviewed after the speech, stated that her performance was 'priceless'.
This was not just a speech to reignite John McCain's campaign - which it clearly did, this was a speech of a future Presidential Candidate. President Palin in 2012.

A certain 51 percent of the electorate is hoping for a match up between Hillary and Palin.

I think that the 2012 Clinton vs. Palin race is the one we all want to see. This country could use strong female leadership. All the major progressive democracies of the world have had it, and the US will go far in showing to the world that it too can benefit from female leadership.
I loved when Palin attacked the good-ol boys. I think that made many a Karl Rove shutter. |

There are buttons for those in a hurry to get on the bandwagon early. Only $3.39.

Even the Washington Post is practically endorsing her candidacy.

Palin for President (in 2012)
From the moment she finished her speech last Wednesday at the Republican National Convention, it was clear that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has a very bright future in national politics no matter the outcome of the 2008 presidential election.
And, days later -- voila! -- a new Web site appeared promoting Palin for president in 2012.
The site was formed by a man named Ron Holland, one of the organizers of "Freedom Fest" -- an annual gathering, which, according to its website, "invites the 'best and the brightest' from around the world to talk, strategize, socialize, and celebrate liberty."
Reached Monday, Holland said he grabbed the web address right after Palin finished speaking last week. "I plan to promote the possibility of a Palin candidacy for the next few years regardless of whether McCain wins or loses," Holland added. "She has real potential to change the direction of the GOP back to it's conservative and somewhat libertarian roots."
The Web site is part of the leading edge of what will almost certainly be a groundswell of energy behind Palin in the event the Republican ticket comes up short in 2008. (Even if McCain wins, as the oldest president ever to take office, it's conceivable he would choose to serve only one term, putting a Vice President Palin at the front of the line in 2012.)
Witness a blog post penned by Robert Halfon on the blog "CentreRight" on Sept. 4 . "This was not just a speech to reignite John McCain's campaign -- which it clearly did, this was a speech of a future Presidential Candidate," Halfon wrote. "President Palin in 2012."
While any number of candidates -- former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty -- are already being seriously mentioned, Palin has quickly eclipsed all of them when it comes to 2012 positioning.
She is seen as the bright new star in the Republican universe and it seems unlikely that her fresh-faced appeal will wear off completely -- especially among the GOP rank and file voters who tend to decide the identity of their party's nominee.
Throw in Palin's socially conservative credentials, her historic candidacy as the first female vice presidential nominee for Republicans and the experience she will gain from this bid and it's hard not to see her as the frontrunner four years from now if the GOP ticket misses the mark in this election.... |

However, as usual, those commie-liberal slimeballs are intent on playing dirty, refusing to get on board the universally praised, non-partisan Palin candidacy -- I think. I'm not quite sure whose side this site is on.

But why wait until 2012? It's is always possible those Palinites might get lucky.
On the other hand, the rest of us might get lucky and the Rapture could Rapturize us first.
Too bad Michael Palin can't run.

Dont be so shure.
Consider this: If Palin is elected President in 2012, she could remain in office until early 2021. And if she replaces McCain during his first term, she could be president for nearly 12 years.
Think of the possibilities to remake the very fabric of the United States.
Remember, we are now in 2008. We could be looking at Sarah Palin through 2021.
Or if President McCain serves two terms, we could have Palin in office through 2025.
It's an evangelical's wet dream. |

She read from a speech written by 15 Republican speechwriters who are aware of what's happening in Russia and Georgia - clearly she is a genius when it comes to foreign affairs
That would be why the party refuses to allow her to participate in unscripted interviews, because of her "deep understanding" of what's happening beyong her front porch.... |

This is too troll-y to work. It's such an assinine idea it fails before it gets started.
Have you seen the electoral map? How's about this, let's both go buy hats, if Obama wins you eat yours, and vice versa. Buy an edible hat.
Now, given that it's looking more and more that McCain has lost barring some huge screw up from the Obama campaign would Palin be the go to candidate in four years? Maybe. I doubt anyone that ran this year would make a go of it other than Huckabee and Romney, and that would be an interesting campaign: Huckabee v. Romney v. Palin. Then again four years for skellingtons to creep out might just ruin Palin. |

Well troll or no troll...we can always entertain/terrify ourselves with the idea.
Lets put it this way IF the democrats lose this election, EVERYONE will lay much of the blame with the Clintons. Hillary wont have a hope in hell of getting the nomination.
Joltin' Joe may try but probably wont succeed.
If they lose they will probably say "Oh the clintons didnt help!" "Obama was too liberal/out-of-touch etc." Most likely the nominee for the democrats would be someone more "mainstream" milk-toast like Tim Kane or Evan Bayh.
Jesus Christ. Sarah Palin with the authority to appoint as many as THREE supreme court justices!? Id stay in Korea because when she would get done with America, Korea would be more civilized.
Between that woman and this economy Im not sure Ill want to be in the US for a LONG time. |

Or much more likely, people would blame the failed nominee . . .
I mean, seriously. Damn you Dean! B/c of you we lost in 2004! |

You may be right but I know at the moment Democrats seem to be pressuring the Clintons enough as it is.
The thing with blaming Obama is that a large portion of his supporters will chock it up to anything BUT him. There is a support group of people out there who while Obama may not be the second coming, he could easily suffice, and if he loses, their political hangover will be truly sad indeed. As far has they are concerned he does inspire hope in them, and is something of a Moses who will lead them to the promised land.

Palin/Condi is the way to go |
Condileeza Rice has got to be the dustiest out of touch Secretary of State we have ever had. She still refers to Russia as the Soviet Union for godsakes. She still lives in the 1970s/80s and percieves everything as an extension of the cold war. She continues to bring that smarmy Bush attitude of your with us or against us, all or nothing, good guy/bad guy mentality to her job. She has left no lasting mark of improvement since coming to office.
Sarah Palin. Enough Said. Case rested. Anyone who thinks this woman is at ALL qualified in ANY way to be Mayor of Wasilla let alone the Presidency, Vice Presidency, or even a pojangmacha or who thinks shes is a REAL REFORMER, has either a) not looked at the facts or b) has a serious issue with democratic government |

Somehow i get this image in my mind of Palin shouting, "You haven't seen the last of me!" with her fist clenched as she rides off in some sort of escape vehicle if Palin/McCain loses in November. |

OMG, can you imagine that. President Christian Housewife with VP Pseudo-Intellectual. I can just imagine what would happen with those two commanding the world's most powerful military ... though it likely wouldn't be as powerful after they got done with it.
It would sure be a long time before feminists ever demanded 'Why can't we had a female president!'. |
