OK, so I've got the new passport. Is a trip to immigration in my near future?
1. I have an ARC, but there is nothing in my new passport to indicate my visa status - do I have to have my current visa sticker transferred into my new passport?
2. Do I have to let immigration know about my new passport number now, or is that something that can wait until the next time I happen to be there?
Cheers. |

LEGALLY you are obligated to inform immigration of a material change (like a new passport) within 14 days of the event occurring.
In any event, you should inform them of your change and they will move your multi-entry permit (if you have one) to your new passport as well as note the change in your file.
Your residential / work status is defined by your ARC so the visa or lack thereof in your current /new passport is irrelevant.
Your re-entry will depend on your visa (if you are American and have a multi-entry) or re-entry permit so you will need that changed over from your old passport to your new one.
There is NO charge for this - just fill in the application form, tick the correct box at the top, give it along with your ARC and new passport to the guy at the counter and 5 minutes later you are done and out the door .

Yet another thread that is effectively killed by ttompatz. No further replies necessary.
Thanks. |
