Ok the old (2005) movie is called -

You are My Destiny

or

You are My sunshine

http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=S5pgOJD5h_0

Anyway I may have seen it last weekend and shed a few tears. But I am not concerned so musch with this truly World Famous movie of Bliss turned to Despair and Redemption... Nor am I going to try to find and marry the main actress since she apparently just married a Rich Land Baron...

It makes me sad to think that perhaps hundreds- I guess thousands- of women are in this situation and may be violently harmed or become sick from the men they serve, as in the movie.

Because, it is based on a true story. I believe it happened in the North East of Korea in a small farm town. Please if you know tell me which town in Korea it is ... and if you know the farmer's name and his wife's name - what are they - they should be somewhere in the public record since it made the news years ago....

I was thinking of biking in that area anyway and perhaps I might stop through the town on a bicycle tour vacation.

Is the husband still alive working as a diary farmer there?
What became of the girl after they reunited in the end of the movie...

So if anyone has details on the farm local and the names of the husband and wife do tell.

It's a good movie. If you like that check out" Private Dancer" by Steven Leather. It's about a guy who falls in love with a Thai Go/Go dancer in Nana Plaza. It's available online. It's really realistic. I wonder how the guy did his research.

I think millions of Korean men can relate on this one.

I think a man can fall in love with most any young comely woman- though humans are not animals, and I do not subscribe to that social Biologist theory, men do seem to be Dawgs like that.

It is a sweet movie but some parts, due to their violent nature, are troubling... However, do any of you know what became of the old diary farmer? What town did this happen in? It is a true story... Just how true is every detail though?

The ending especially. If I recall (in the movie) he drank something or did something to his throat and couldn't communicate with her. It was endearing except for the ending.

Its a true story. There was an article in the textbook" Small Group Discussion Topics" about it. The Lady knowingly infected dozens of Korean husbands with HIV and they in turn they infected their wives.

Great textbook, I bought it for my writing classes. What section of the book is it in? I can't find it.

It's in an older version of the book. The first edition had tons of articles like that. Lots of stuff about Room Salons. Use to get the female teachers really pissed off.
