I'm not from Seoul, but I need a room to stay in this Friday. I don't want to pay more than 50,000 and it would be cool if it had a tub, but I'm not that fussy.

Mainly, I don't want it to be a dive. Some friends stayed in a place in Itaewon, but said it was pretty average and I'd rather stay clear of Itaewon. I really like the Sinchon and Ewha areas, but anything that is close by to these areas would be fine also.

Preferably a place that is run by someone who speaks reasonable English, as I'm not able to ring up and book a room in Korean.

Thanks in advance.

On a weekend night all of the hotels are by the hour until sometime after 12. You won't be able to book.

If you're in the neighborhood after that time, finding a decent hotel shouldn't be difficult. The area outside of the northeast corner of shinchon station has plenty of hotels (on the back streets, not the main roads).

Head up the hill behind the Macdonalds on the Rotary in Sinchon. Within a couple short blocks you'll see a bunch of motels to your left. They're all much the same -- pleasant enough & accommodating (tubs, big screen tv, internet). Most of them have a sliding scale of 40000 on weeknights, 50 on fridays, & 60 on saturdays. Some might be full, just try another. Afternoon or early evening, not a problem. You'll find a room.

Cheaper ones across the road near exit 6 I think, but they may not be as pleasant. Actually I found the rooms pretty much the same, and about $20 cheaper, just the building was old and smelly.
