I'm currently working in Seoul and am nearing the end of my contract. I hope to return to Korea in January to a new position. I have attempted to be proactive in attaining all necessary documents immigration requires(fingers crossed they won't change their minds again!). I received my CRC in the mail today and was planning on taking it to the Canadian embassy to have it apostled ... until I spoke to one of the cooridnators at my school this afternoon. He seems to think that I will run into problems if I have my criminal record apostled in Seoul, yet later submitted to the Korean consulate in Canada while I'm home for Christmas (sidenote: I'm leaving Korea at the end of the month to travel until Christmas, when I will return to Canada. I hope to zoom through the E2 visa process between Christmas and early-mid January.) Can anyone forsee me having my criminal record check apostled in Seoul, yet later submitting it to the Korean Consulate in Vancouver with an apostled stamp on it from Korea? I wouldn't normally dream this would be a problem, but with the tumlutuous immigration standards, I do worry. I REALLY wanted to be proactive and have all my documents set up before I leave to travel, but I'm worried I may be screwing myself over! If you have any advice on this topic, please let me know! Thanks in advance.

You're Canadian...you can't get it apostilled. You can, however, get it notarized.

Why don't you try calling or getting someone to call immigration for you to find out? Actually, I'd call a few times to see if you get the same answer from several people, because as I've sure you've noticed Koreans sometimes pull answers out of their behinds instead of checking first to make sure they have the right answers.

I agree though that there is a possibility that they won't accept it.
