|
|
Hey all.
Went online to the embasssy site. Confusing. The bold part is especially confusing as A, there are no labels a-f, and it says submit 4 copies. DO NOT photocopy. Assuming that a-f are the requirements listed below, how do I submit four passports? Yes, I know I can't, so I must be missing something. We called, and option 3 was registering a child. Nothing. After a while it hung up on us. Called back and got "ko ge gi...." about 25 times.
Our window to do this is tomorrow. Has anybody done this before? Can you tell me what you did?
Section 2from this page... http://www.philembassy-seoul.com/consular.asp#pt7 says...
"Requirements for Reports of Birth
Birth certificate of the child with seal of the hospital or doctor with the
corresponding English translation
Valid Philippine passport or Travel Document of parents.
Authenticated Marriage Contract of parents (if applicable)
Any additional document of identification of the parents: birth certificate,
voters affidavit, NBI, Drivers License, etc.
Affidavit of Acknowledgement of Paternity for child born out of wedlock.
Pictures (size: 1.77" x 1.37" ? colored with plain, light background)
For a child who will be returning to the Philippines unaccompanied by any
of his/her parents: duly accomplished Affidavit of Parental Consent
(download form) and photocopy of the passport of the traveling
companion.
Note:
Submit four (4) copies each of Items 2.a to 2.f. Do not photocopy." |

When we did it they had a form (or 3) that we filled out in quad (you will get writers cramp), put her footprints on them (at the counter), added copies of our wedding certificate and passports.
Basically,
Pay the fees (about 120k won if I remember correctly)
Proof of your wife's citizenship
Proof of the marriage
Original hospital certificate of birth (with doctor's/hospital's seal and doctor's signature)
Passport style photos of the baby (you can get these at the pinoy store just behind the embassy if you don't have some already).
The procedure is fairly quick and painless and the guy at the counter is pretty good about it (since the baby is a dual citizen - they want to give it the green passport). You may end up making a couple trips to the Pinoy store for different copies of stuff but it is not that hard.
The Pinoy store is also a good place to sit, have a coffee and fill in the paperwork.
You (or the wife) have to return a week later to pick up the registration and baby's new passport.

Super. Thank you. It makes more sense now. We've been to the Pinoy store behind the embassy. We got my wife's passport renewed and did pictures there. Wow, they were expensive! We'll be getting our sons' pictures done here. |

Ok, here's how it went.
It was long. It was a little painful.
We obtained the four applications to register a child.
We also obtained one passport application. (machine readable)
We showed our pictures. Not correct. Do NOT follow the website. The new requirement is a Royal Blue background. Everything else was the same.
So we ended up paying the pinoy store after all. 20k for six shots.
The other pay was the registration and passport fee. 79,975 won. Not bad.
The instructions were very specific, but the guy behind the counter was quite helpful.
One more thing. Our pick up date is one month from today....which means another trip to Daegu Immigration to explain why I don't have him registered yet.
Thanks everyone for the help. |
