A friend of mine wants to come to Korea to teach ESL. He has a clean criminal record, however his vulnerable sector screening report (I've only heard about this report when talking to Canadians, so this may just be a Canadian thing, not sure though) is not pretty. He told me that between teenage things like graffiti, to nights in the drunk tank, to drinking and driving charges he has about 15 items on his report. I received my last visa just before the new laws went into effect, so I have no idea how this VSS report ties into the actual decision of allowing someone into Korea or not. Because of this, I couldn't tell him if it would matter or not. Can any of you spread some light on the issue? Given a clean criminal record, but a bad VSS report, does he stand a chance of coming here or should he plan to go to another country? |
