|
|
Anyone (in shape/out of shape/beginner/advanced - doesn't matter) who is interested in playing some ball hockey feel free to come out every Sunday from 4-6 at the sports complex in Seoul. We have a solid core and we are always looking to add members. The only differences between BALL Hockey and Ice/Inline hockey are that we....
1. run.
2. don't need any equipment.
3. are old school and passionate about the game.
Let me know if you are intersted in playing. Contact me at [email protected] |

Where is the sports complex? I live in Ilsan but I am interested if it doesn't take extremely long to get there. |

So, it's like indoor field hockey with a tiny goal flat sticks and no outs? |

1. It will probably take you about 1 1/2 hours to get to the sports complex from Ilsan. It's on the green line #2 (stop #218). I'm in Anyang and it takes me an hour to get there from my place. Another guy drives up from Suwon. A guy comes from Jeonju by express bus - takes 3 hours for him to get here. Others come from Nowon and Bundang. We'd like to have you out.
2. REGARDING the type of hockey we : We play real Canadian hockey. Goalies are in full gear, we use regular ice hockey sticks, some wear hockey gloves and shin guards. We play on an inline rink with boards. The only difference between us and ice hockey and inline hockey is that we run. We have had some ice hockey guys and inline guys out playing with us as well at times. Feel free to ask any of them which is a harder game to play. We have a membership of about 70. A core group of roughly 20 who are in every week. We encourage everyone to come out and play the great game. This is a way to play hockey without having to fork out the dough for hockey equipment. A benefit when you are overseas, want to play hockey without having to put a huge investment into it.
3. HOPE you guys join us this week. |

Are you suggesting ball hockey is harder than ice hockey here? |

Huh? I can't even begin to wrap my head around what this means. Did your ancient Canadian forefathers play ball hockey in between hunting caribou? Does Canada play some special form of hockey that is apparently not played in other parts of the world (why else would you need to say it was "real?")? |

1. I was being specific about the type of hockey we play. When I say we play real Canadian ball hockey it was an attempt to distinguish it from field hockey. Many assume we mean field hockey. So when I say real Canadian hockey it was to show it wasn't field hockey.
2. In my humble opinion ball hockey is harder than ice/inline hockey, not so much as it pertains to the game but rather the big difference is the running, stamina level and the impact on your body. With inline/ice much of the time you can float around without wasting energy, but in ball hockey it's impossible. Also, the impact on the lower bodies joints in the ankles, knees etc. take more of a beating on a cement surface when running compared to when on skates. |
