Returning to Japan for a short holiday, few days Osaka then to Tokyo. Will be staying with a friend way out in the burbs in Kiyose (Seibu Ikebukuro line). Although I lived in Tokyo 4 years ago for 4 months, and have still seen a lot, just wondering what else there mighht be do to? Only plans so far are to check out the area I used to live in and have a Gyu Kaku/karaoke party. Any interesting bars/pubs, new strangeness to see? WIll only have 2-3 days |

I suggest the Lonely Planet Tokyo book. Of course it covers the major tourists sites and popular bars/restaurants, and if you lived in Tokyo you may have already seen those. |

Only have 2-3 days....and you used to live there for 4 years 4 months...seems like you'd have way too much to see already from when you were there before.
I've visited Tokyo a small handful of times (just there last weekend actually). But I can't help but think you've probably already seen much more of Tokyo than myself, and then some.
Where did you usually go when you lived in Tokyo, etc.? Any certain popular areas you use to just miss out on somehow? I could give an assessment of certain places, but difficult to recommend of where to go as a tourist to someone who has already spent significant amounts of time in Tokyo already. |

we really liked the Studio Ghibli museum, and would highly, highly recommend it. i think you have to buy tickets from outside of the country, but maybe there's another way.
it wasn't in the heart of tokyo but it was a quick subway ride away. definitely able to pass a few hours there if you like their work - and even if you don't, the museum is really unique in itself. |
