In Korean questions are said with a rising intonation, and the word order doesn't change. Nor is there a commonly used question word.
Did they adopt the rising intonation at the same time as the question mark?
Was there a different question marker word before this?
I know that 습니까 and 입니까 act as such a marker in the highest form of speech, 나요 in 존댓말, and 니 in 반말, but the latter two don't seem to be used very frequently at all. I don't think I've ever heard anyone use 나요 in conversation with me. |
