Hey, I'm sure there's a thread about this, but the search engine isn't working.
I told my students I would teach them about American culture this week, but I'm not exactly sure what to show them. Also, how do I incorporate English learning into the lesson, aside from them just listening to me speak?
Please help! |

You might try practicing expressions of agreement/disagreement and/or comparative forms. How about basing it around reading? Vocabulary building: Who can find the word in the paragraph that means ___? ...that's the opposite of ___?
How about:
Write up some paragraphs describing an American high schooler's day.
Start with a description of a brother/sister getting up, getting ready for school and eating breakfast. Make one of them a Sophomore and one a Senior.
Then ask your students to point out the similarities and differences between the two characters, then between the characters and themselves.
That should be enough for one lesson.
Another week, for review of the forms, describe a high schooler's day at school.
A different week, describe what a typical American kid does after school.
Another: Summer and Winter vacations.
And others: Each holiday--Halloween is coming up; dating; part-time jobs; cruising; the Prom |
