I use a Cowon D4, but my coworker just bought an iPod for his Thai wife. She can't figure out how to download non-iTunes music files onto her new iPod. How does she go about downloading and playing files (music, books on tape, videos, etc) onto her new iPod?

Should be as simple as drag and drop. I've never had any problems getting tunes on my ipod. Movies is a different story though. You'll have to ask someone else about that, but I think you have to have them saved as a certain file type.

With the IPod, you have to first downloand and install ITunes. Then you load the music into ITunes and then you connect the IPod to the computer and Itunes and the IPod will "Sync". Then Itunes will "update" the IPod and put the music and vidoes on. Sound complicated? I think it was made to be that way.

Another good option with the IPod is to download Floola software. After setting up Floola, you can use it to directly load music and videos from your computer to the IPod without the intermediate step of using ITunes.

I am about fed up with my Ipod and will probably switch to the Cowan D2 soon.

Can you elaborate on that Cowon D4 that you use?
I have been holding off on getting the Cowon D2 because maybe there will be a D3 soon (or maybe not). So I am curious what this "D4" is.
Thanks, Drew

Please move this thread to the tech forum, and then tell me if I can download mp3s from my computer to my mp3-capable cellphone or if I can only purchase them from my cell company's pay site (where they don't have the music I want).
