Back in high school and University I watched a ton of Anime.

In the last year or 2, I haven't been able to watch as much. Only like 2 or 3 shows a season.

Right now I'm watching Macross Frontier, Code Geass R2, Zero no Tsukaima, and Gundam 00.

There are probably like 12 series for the last 4 seasons that are just sitting on my hard drive that I never started or finished.

Code Geass is freakin' awesome!
I wish I could hit my entire 3rd grade class with Geass. That would save me a LOT of classroom management work.

I saw Gundam 00 last month. Great series. No matter how obtuse the problem, throw a Gundam at it. For awhile there, this show was like the MSG/Dynasty Warriors crossover game.

I'm going to start Darker than Black this week. I heard a season 2 will be coming soon.

I used to watch a lot of anime,
It used to make me really happy...

Anyways, I stopped watching because for every anime I watched I found the same goddamn motifs, ideas, artistic expression for EVERYTHING.

For example, when theres an epic sword duel it always ends with one guy passing the other one, waiting a few seconds... and the other guy splits in half or spurts blood and falls to the ground... Epicly predictable. And this just isn't the drawings, you see the archetypes, "moral" story plots, and other shit repeated again and again.

When it reached that point I was like, goddamn it this is a waste of my time...

But I do miss the times when I watched, AIR, Mushishi, 2x2 shinobudden, naruto, etc. wow that was some good times....

Hey if anyone has some refreshing animes I'd love to watch em.

Anime peaked with Cowboy Bebop, nothing since has come close. Except for maybe the Ghost in the Shell series.

I disagree. You should check out a series called Black Lagoon.

It really depends on the genre. In the action genre, you have a lot of series that came after Cowboy Bebop that are excellent.

Black Lagoon
X
GunGrave

I like the Action/Comedy animes a lot:

Full Metal Panic
Daphne in the Brilliant Blue
Vandread

Comedies are my absolute favorite, but these are very hard for people new to anime to enjoy:

Azumanga Daioh
Lucky Star
School Rumble
Keroro Gunso

Ezewong:

Watch Code Geass.

I don't like children's anime... I generally gravitate to stuff very "Ghost in the Shell"-ish. The less of the "Dragon Ball Z" archetypes it has in it, the more watchable it is for me. I can't stand the anime(s) that mistake yelling for emotional passion and cosmic fight scenes (with terrible animation) for complex plots. I know I'm going get blasted for saying that Dragon Ball Z-esque anime is utter shit, but it is. Can't stand that whole subgenre of anime.

My favourite anime was Paranoia Agent. I really like Serial Experiments Lain too, and lately I've been watching Great Teacher Onizuka because it makes me laugh.

Ghost in the Shell is great... as is the TV show. I have to get back into that again because I've only seen the first season.

I would recommend Elfen Lied, X, Sokyou no Fafnir, Claymore. Black Lagoon is an awesome action anime. If you like guns, mobsters, mercenaries, etc... you'll love black lagoon.

Dragonball is a great Manga (comic book). The Anime adaptation is just butchered to hell.

LOL.. This is to funny especially when some one posts about RPGing. Most people just mock me or any one interested. Yet something less mature as anime doesn't get flamed.

i also used to watch alot of anime, but then it seemed like there were so many kinds and i had to sift through so much crap to get anything good. in recent memory i enjoyed

samurai champloo
full metal alchemist (so sue me)
the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya (hilarious!)

and yeah i love miyazaki, i was pissed that they changed the name on the dvd to "castle in the sky" just because if you separate laputa you get a bad word. seriously get over it disney. and i think there is way too much good anime before bebop, although it is a golden masterpiece. neon genesis evangelion? totally awesome even if i'll never understand it. and dragonball has this weird nostalgic place in my heart so i think i like it because of how ridiculous it was. but i still watched it. i didn't have anything else to do after school.damn i do miss good anime. mushishi is good too but i never got to finish it. so are there any good newer series anyone can suggest? oh and i'm not gonna lie, i'm a huge sailor moon nerd. again, watched it too much after school. then we got internet and i would spend afternoons looking up super important info about it instead of doing hw. youth well spent.
