This sucks. I was going to buy some AIG the other day was it was at 2

It went to 5 a few days later. It was only $400 worth , but it would have been $1000 practically overnight.

A lot of us got suckered into selling the day of the Lehman Bro's thing. I bought POSCO at 418,000 Won a share two days before the shit hit the fan, when the shit did eventually hit the fan, I pushed the panic button and sold at 414,000. Then two days later after the bailout plan was announced, the stock was over 450,000. Tough break.

I'd like to know too. Also, Asian stocks in general. I wished my bank at home would offer the ability to buy stocks in Asia.

You can buy ADR's ( American Depository Receipts) of many asian companies.

I own LG Display. It represents the stock in Korea, but you buy it in the US.

Posco, KB Bank and several others are available. I know there are some Thai, Taiwanese and of course Japanese ADR's available to purchase.

Just contact your broker.

None of you should be buying individual stocks. Nobody should be buying individual stocks, ever. Unless you are opening up a firms books, examining their management and doing comprehensive surveys of the relevant industries, markets and trends you are merely speculating with your savings. And you are speculating based upon what you're reading in the financial press.

Read that book to learn how to properly structure your portfolio and prepare for retirement.

However, if you insist on buying individual stocks read:

Couldn't agree more with Mises. If you're holding for days at a time, it's not investing. If you're going to pick stocks you need to make it a fulltime job.

And those books should be required reading in highschool.

Mine are in my IRA, so they are a long term investment.

Sharebuilder offers a great way to invest in individual issues. You can open a regular account or an IRA. Trades are for as little as $4.

Capital I Q via Yahoo gives you some idea of the firms position:
