| If the North is pissed off then 2MB, must be doing something right. A great step away from the useless of DJ and Roh. You may not like 2MB, but at least he is interested in making South Korea better instead of only worry about North Korea like the two idiots who were in office before him. |

| How long can this last? North Korea's entire economy is based on extorting "humanitarian aid" based on the threat of their nuclear capabilities. If the threat stopped, the entire sturcture of their economy (and existance) would come to a screeching halt. |

One can hope that the North Korean government screws up more of its plums like the resorts and that the collapse come all the sooner.
Just to steer off the OP for a sec...
Although 2MB seems to be doing a poor job of it at the moment, were reunification to occur under his watch I don't know if there'd be a better candidate to oversee it than him. Having a businessman at the helm of such a venture seems to make more sense than having a more standard-fare statesman. I imagine 2MB building roads to sound business opportunities in the north like new resorts, national parks, getaways, and letting the economic growth of those areas dictate growth trends, whereas a more conservative leader might build roads and bridges based on stated (or surveyed) demographic needs that may not reflect growth potential, and wind up yielding little fruit. If you're going to pour billions of won into a new highway, you'd hope that highway would be a direct link to more economic activity. I see a former businessman understanding that, and a career statesman not necessarily understanding that.
In short, he doesn't seem to be the man for South Korea, but I bet he'd do a lot better governing the reunification. |
