My co-workers were unable to give me an answer to this so I'm posting it here now.
So I'm fairly new to using Korean phones. I called my friend yesterday but have no clue if he got my message. In the U.S., after you hear a beep, you leave a message and then hang up. With this Korean voicemail thing, I heard a beep and as I was leaving my message, there was an automated recording all in Korean of a woman's voice in the background every few seconds which is quite distracting by the way when you're trying to leave a message. I hung up not knowing if I even left my message.
Can somebody tell me what that recording is about and if my friend got my recording? I don't want to seem like a stalker but have no clue how these Korean phones work! |

koreans don't seem to use the voice mail option on their phones.
you probably were getting a message that the phone was turned off.
send text messages - that is the better option.

I noticed Koreans aren't very much into voicemail but he's not Korean and I guess he listens to his because he called me back after I left the message with him today. |

Yes, go with text. Unless your friend is anti-text, like one of mine is. It takes about ten thousand messages before I get a reply, so always I have to do it through voice or voice message... |

I'm one of those people. Hate texting and use it rarely, especially if they're trying to have a conversation through texting. Though I always ask them to call me until they get the message. Some don't. What you can achieve in a two minute phone call would take ten minutes of texting to accomplish not to mention you get to hear the other person's voice. |
