"Failure to communicate" indeed. Let the spinning commence. Jeremiah Wright and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: just a pair of really nice, down-to-earth guys who have been misquoted and taken out of context by malicious people who just do not get it. |

I remember one of my wiser NCOs telling me one time, "once you steal, you'll always be labeled a thief and once you kill, you'll always be labeled a murderer." Indeed once you start making bigoted statements you'll always be labeled a racist. Reverend Wright used the pulpit for his outlandish bigotry, he will always be a racist. |

You're certainly right about that. That Moyers guy is one of the great spinning propagandists. I'm surprised Rush doesn't invite him onto his show. |

Who is talking about Moyers? I was commenting on your propaganda-free, sneer-free title, R.S. |

Satire seems appropriate in this case. |

Satire, I stand corrected. Just like a witty Michael Moore film.
In any case, while we are setting the record straight: neither I nor anyone else I know who question Wright's worldviews and Obama's link to them have demonized either of them -- or alleged pitchforks or firebreathing, for that matter (that is exactly what the far left does to W. Bush, Cheney, and henchmen like Petraeus, though, remember?). But such worldviews do conflict with our own, that is why we are concerned, and as registed American voters it is our right to articulate them and hold Wright accountable for what he has said, what it means, and how he hopes to change the way those who hear him think about America, the state that invented HIV/AIDS to perpetrate genocide against African-Americans, etc. |

Poor Obama.
I don't think Rev Wright is racist. But I do think he is an asshole who is hurting Obama's chances. He came onto Moyers to defend himself, and he says that 'Obama is a politician who has to speak as a politician . . .' . In other words, Obama is lying, and Rev Wright hasn't said anything wrong.
Here's my message to Wright: YOU ARE NOT HELPING. |

Why hasn't Obama's message to Wright been a loud and clear, "STFU, bigot!" ?
I believe that people other than white males can be racists and bigots...and Rev. Wright is one of those people. |

Whatever, I'm sure they spent plenty of time going on about this kind of crap from the get go. Now that it's inconvenient, he wants to distance himself in the eyes of the media.
Poor Obama... |

Yes, I do feel sympathy. Obama is being censured for the remarks of someone else. Obama cannot control what his pastor says, and indeed, he condemns the remarks.
The only real controversy, it seems to me, is whether Obama knew that Rev. Wright had made these kinds of remarks, and had condoned them until now. But it appears that he didn't. But, even if he did, should we assume that his silence is approval? Given Obama's own words on racism BEFORE the Wright remarks emerged in the media, I cannot say that we can assume his approval.
I should point out that I am NOT an Obama supporter. I should also point out that everything I have said applies also to both Clinton and McCain. |

Given that Moyers is a former pastor himself (or something like that), appearing on that program makes a certain amount of sense. With that background, Moyers would be able to give Wright an intelligent hearing.
Now that he's had his chance to explain himself, he should take his retirement seriously and go on a long long vacation somewhere where there are no TVs or telephones until mid-November. He is distracting, not helping, Obama. |

Obama agrees.
Quote: |
I think certainly what the last three days indicate is that we're not coordinating with [Rev. Wright]. He's obviously free to speak his mind, but I just want to emphasize [that] he is my former pastor. Many of the statements he made both to trigger this initial controversy, and that he's made over the last couple days are not statements that I heard him make previously. They don't represent my views and they don't represent what this campaign is about. |
RSR is a little off-message lately. |

I would be able to defend a lot of what Rev.Wright has said but the last statement puts him into looney conspiracy nut territory. |

That's right. Everyone knows a monkey bit a guy on the ass in Africa, who then proceeded to spread AIDS all around the world, while the virus decided it would attack gays in America and heterosexuals in Africa.
