There's this boy named Harry. I've been suspecting it for a few weeks, but it just settled in today.

1) We're dicussing Cause and Effect in my advanced class. I ask the students for examples. Lucy says "Cause: You hit me. Effect: I kill you." A little violent, but otherwise okay. Harry then says "Cause: You die. Effect: I cry and also die."

2) He drew me a picture of what appears to be an octopus with the words "Thank you i love you."

3) He knows I studied politics in college, and everyday he comes in with something about history written in English and hands it to me. Today it was "War of the Roses"

. . . and no, he's not a "special" kid. He's actually one of the popular ones. I contemplated the possibility of it being a "dare" of something of that sort, but he seems to be acting alone.

Aside from just ignoring it, any advice on how to deal with it?

Peace out,
politica

I used to have a first grader (slightly younger I realize) that was in love with me. Everyday she would come to the teachers room when she got to school and giggle uncontrollably, finally grabbing me and telling me she loved me and was gonna marry me. Shed follow me around the school and peak behind corners giggling like--- well a schoolgirl, although in this case a school girl sounded like a hyena with hiccups.

I was polite but ignored the comments and after about two months she was bored with the routine.

I remember having crushes on teachers waay back when.

I'd show off in class, bring them little gifts, present them with extra little projects of drawings or words. None ever scorned me & I thank them for that. But eventually I'd always go too far & do something blushingly over-the-top & learn a valuable lesson about self-restraint & reality.

Be gentle.

Used to happen at my university classes when I was skinny and single.

Not anymore. I'm now fat, married, and, "... look like an uncle."

I kinda had this, at least I think, but I didn't find out until the last night of teaching at the Hagwon. It was actually a really cute middle school student (no, I'm not sick, but she was quite cute).

Anyway, it's my last night and my students all knew I was leaving. I see her in the lobby of the building after work, and she and her friend approach me and say bye-bye over and over.

The odd thing was, she kept saying "You're my dream! My dream!!" I high-tailed it out of there.

Yeah, she said I look like I am from Manitoba.

That was the last straw. I'm on a diet now.
