Some time ago, I had posted here about changing the visa status for my wife when we got to Korea. Well, we are here now. I thought I would post this as a reference for those who search in the future. I know I couldn't find anything when I was looking for the information.
My wife is from Thailand. She automatically gets 90 days when entering without a visa. I was unable to secure an F-3 visa for her in Bangkok because they required a copy of my ARC. I got mixed answers all over the place about the possibility of this. I certainly didn't want to send her back to Thailand.
Last week we went to immigration. We required 2 photos, passport, a letter from my employer stating that I was employed by her, a copy of my passport, a copy of my ARC, and a copy of our marriage certificate (both Thai and English). Yes, they didn't need it to be translated into Korea. Our translation was certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok. I do not think this was required though.
The total was 65,000 Won. This included the change of visa status, ARC, and shipping to our home. It was done at immigration in Ulsan. The passport and ARC arrived within a week. |
