I bought an iron for ten bucks at home ever and it broke in a week. No big deal I should have bought a better one. I bought a $30 dollar iron and it doesn't even Fing work. It has some stupid stand that it sits in so as soon as you take it out it starts loosing heat. IT DOESN"T GET RID OF WRINKLES. It doesn't glide smoothly over the clothes and it leaks water. The ten dollar iron actually worked better. WTF.

Does anybody want to buy an iron? I really don't want to spend 60 bucks on a Fing iron just because they don't have dryers..

I have a TEFAL Supergliss 40. It's made in France. It's the second TEFAL Iron I have purchased in the past 10, or so, years. Though a little expensive, it's well worth the extra won. It has a scratch resistant bottom, so it doesn't burn/destroy your clothes. Too, you want to make sure you always buy an iron that has a steamer. I iron most of my clothes so it really makes the job much easier and is a time saver. I bought it at EMART.

Sorry about the long reply. But, I've purchased the cheap irons before....arghhhhhh...

I like my piece of crap iron. It was in my apt when I got there, probably cost 10kwon and with a febreze bottle full of water for a sprayer and a fleece blanket on the floor for the board it works great.

In case you didn't know, everything today is made in China.

Are you one of those people taht believe the Ford Mustang is still an American car? You know a Toyota Camry has MORE US parts than a Mustang.

When I take my drycleaning in, I usually take a bunch of shirts that need pressing. They do them for free, or maybe a couple thousand won to do a half dozen shirts if I have no dryclaening that needs done.

Ya most are made in China, that's true, but they are still Korean products and they still meet Korea's low standard of quality.

This is a big generalization though, many things are great, but from my experience many products can be complete shite here, from the fleece sweaters from Blak Yak or Echoroba (the top outdoor equipment brands in the country) to the fans, irons, motorcycles (hyosung)....you name it. A lot of stuff is crap and attempts to pass it self off as not. Buying Korean products as an uninformed consumer can be a real crap shoot. Sometimes they are great, other times they suck. Even if you speak Korean there seems to be very little done to prove anything to the consumer, to protect the consumer or inform the consumer.

I'm kind of on a buy western kick these days. I'm a little tired of waisting money on something I had hoped was a good deal, or on something that was supposed to be top quality only to find that is merely a mediocre product packaged as something of great quality.

Although my fridge is pretty kickin, and I'm damn happy with my peice of shit Kia....kicks ass for such an old car.

these prices are outrageous...everything here is very expensive for poorly-designed products.. quality food also is overpriced

i keep reading on other threads, like the Japan/Korea thread, people saying how cheap it is in Korea...I find it very expensive, even more expensive than in the U.S.

I did not go to the expense of buying an iron, and I avoid clothes that need to be ironed...but a few cotton shirts I take to the guy down the block who does it for a couple of won

I have the same style of iron but don't think it's all that bad.
The way they work is that the stand keeps them at a constant temp... there's a dial on your iron, right? I usually set mine to about 2 or 3 (out of 4 hotness) then iron a small area at a time... if the wrinkle doesn't come out right away, try the steam feature. That works like a charm every time.
