As Gepikers already know, the contract states you must work a maximum of 22 regular class hours per week.
I currently work 22 regular hrs a week and will work 24 regular hrs next year if I stay at this school.
Which kind of school do you work for and what are your total regular hrs a week?
The less the better |

I work at two high schools and I teach a total of 20 hours a week.
When you say you will work 24 regular hours, does that mean you will teach 24 classes? I thought that maximum is 22? If so, you should be compensated for teaching 2 extra classes. |

No, I work 22 hrs regular class a week and the other 2 hrs are after school class. I suspect high schools require less teaching hrs a week |

I have 12 classes in the afternoon (weekly) and five "sessions" in the morning. Each session is made of three 40 minute periods, but it's the same class (I am dreading the day when 1st and 2nd graders will come and try to sit for 3 forty minute periods).
I don't know how to weigh the morning teaching, because it's not like planning 3 classes. It feels more like 1.5 classes. So, I'd say total is about 19.5, plus one adult class for the teachers. I have yet to meet with them. |

I'd count each one as three classes.
That schedule is insane. I hope you're getting paid well. |

Draz,
Well, due to my inexperience with large classes, no lessons planned for them until coming to this school, and the resources they have available to me, I don't feel this is that bad of a job.
Of course I would like more pay, but since October last year, I have switched schools two times. The other two schools were hagwons. They only paid 200-300,000 won more and my schedule was split.
So, even though I didn't work that many hours, I had to be available to teach from morning till night. With this public school job, I am done at 4:30pm, and today the 5th graders are getting physical evaluations done which means no classes to teach until 1pm. I just sit at the computer and plan lessons until then. Then on Friday, we have a field trip, so no teaching that day. |
