I'm in the mood to seriously stuff my face, probably because the weather is getting colder. Anyways, I went to carne station and i wasn't that impressed. I didn't think the selection was that good and i didn't see much marinated beef. It wasn't very korean either from what i could tell. I also don't need to drink that much so it wasn't up my alley.
Can anyone recommend me some great places?? I checked the old threads but many of them might have closed down. I'm assuming many of the ones that are under 10000kw don't exist anymore too. I have yet to even find any beef bbq at that price anyways, it's a lot higher and the portions are amazingly skimpy!
I might be going to the wrong places. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks a lot! |

It's not very Korean, but it's good: There's a couple of Brazilian BBQ meat buffets around. One is called CEIA nearby Shinsa station, just past the movie theater (Broadway Cinema, I think it's called). The other one is called Impanema and it's in the small street that runs along the side of Doksu Palace near City Hall station. Koreans are starting to get more into seafood buffets. Plenty of those around. |

I don't understand meat buffets.
Why pay 25,000 at Carne Station for meat of questionable quality you have to collect and cook yourself, when you can go to any meat restaurant and eat basically the same stuff or better, have it cooked for you with better side dishes, and have a few beers for the same price or less? |

thanks for the tips. i was so hungry i couldn't wait for the replies, i went to eat just down the street and it sucked again.
there are so many restaurants in this area but they suck here in gangnam. i got that sam gyup sael and there was hardly any side dishes and the meat wasn't very good.
i remember eating either in hongdae or apujung i think and i stopped at this place and it was much better. they gave you soup and a lot more fresh side dishes and it was actually cheaper. the meat tasted fresher too.
it tasted more authentic though i still haven't had a real authentic korean meal yet. I feel like i'm in new mexico trying to find a korean restaurant! They hardly give you anything, especially for the price!
what the hell happened to korea? (rhetorical question)
alas, again not satisfied.
I also almost got killed today on the subway. My hand and foot got caught in the door as it was closing. I thought there were safety sensors just like elevators but NO. My foot got caught and I FELL FLAT ON MY ASS and yanked my foot out, otherwise it would have taken my foot with it. I wasn't hurt at all but that was dangerous.
I hate korea and i've only been here less than a week and i'm HALF KOREAN!!! It's not korea's fault of course, i'm just so out of sync.
i realized that if i had grown up here, i would feel totally different and probably understand the unspoken or inner circle so to speak but i don't.
So i realize i'm not very korean anymore at all. Well, i'm going to japan next week so there is some relief. I think this stress is because i'm in seoul. I went today to techno mart, did not have what i was looking for though. That frustrated me as i actually DO NOT LIKE SHOPPING.
So seoul is not the place for someone who does not like shopping! |

The best Sang Gyup Sal I've had was near Gunja Station.
Its definitely worth the trip. Go out Gunja Station Exit 6, take the 1st left and walk down that street. About 50 meters ahead is a place called "추청식당" (closest spelling I can remember). Its only 6,000w per serving. Also, many of the places on that street have 6,000w / serving Sang gyup and cheap Galbi too.
A little further up is another place called "소야지" that is also really good. |

I think it's Fogo or Fuego. I went there and it was not impressive. Lots of tough meat and a few potatoes. |

There is a couple really good Daeji Kalbi places in Hongdae. Like 8000-9000 won per serving and a lot of good side dishes. The one i go to is across from this Chinese restaurant that's red, and has lanterns hanging outside of it, not a big clue i know. |
