Well, at least that's what her campaign says.

Palin pre-empts state report, clears self in probe

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Trying to head off a potentially embarrassing state ethics report on GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, campaign officials released their own report Thursday that clears her of any wrongdoing.

Hmmmm...either she thinks she can grab more headlines by announcing early or........

I didn't really follow this story because I figured it was just a squabble in local politics, but this announcement makes me suspicious.

She's probably hoping that most readers will not look too closely at the headline, and assume that she has been cleared by a legitimate inquiry.

From the superficial attention I've paid to this, my guess is that the Alaska inquiry(ie. the real one) will determine that Monegan was ultimately fired for valid reasons, but that improper pressure had been placed on him by the Palins re: Mike Wooten. Just my semi-educated guess.

The standard spin, nothing new. I heard there is suppose to be a vote at 9am Alaska Time on whether the report will be released today.
