For overall experience, which is the better place to live, Seoul (Kangnam) or Kwangju

Depends what you want.

I've lived in Seoul for 6 years or so and I love it -- it's a big, crowded, noisy, filthy, wonderful place!

I lived in Kwangju for about 10 months and it was great -- but in a completely different way.

In Seoul there is (with a little imagination) tons to do. Great place to spend money and go crazy with the nightlife. A lot of the expats here are kind of transient so you'll go through friends like water if you stay for any length of time.

In Kwangju I wasn't so interested in the nightlife (which is just as well, as there isn't as much of it, although on Friday and Saturday nights it's fun enough). I spent time reading and doing hapkido. Lots of foreigners stay in Kwangju for a long time and the expat community there was relatively tight. A little easier to save money there, as well.

Seoul's my first choice, but I could easily live in Kwangju again.
