Hi,
I'd like to get out for one day this weekend and just see something lovely. Beach or forest or mountain or temple, anything outside of the city and worth seeing. We have a 250cc that I can stand being on the back of for about an hour to an hour and a half (before my rear goes numb).
Can anyone recommend something along those lines? Somewhat near to Seoul and do-able in a day? Thank you. |

I can't resist. I can't believe no one has posted this caveat already, as it has been a whole ten minutes...
Be sure your insurance covers motorcycle injuries. That's a big bike for Korea, and you want to make sure you'll be fine if you lay it over. |

Thank you, Tobias. It's my husband's bike but I'll ask him about that. He's never put a bike down in years of riding but as people say, "It's not a question of if, but when." |

Yeap. Rumour has it that our insurance doesn't cover motor-sickle hurts. I don't believe it, but I'd sure check before hopping on two wheels. |

Motorcycle insurance does cover you IF you buy that part of the policy. Basic (law-required) insurance doesn't, neither does NHI.
maeil, unfortunately, you will have to ride about an hour just to get out of central Seoul. In the city, the Bugak skyway is nice. Go from Gwanghwamun to Samcheong-dong and keep following that road. You'll go through the Samcheong Tunnel and through some residential mtn. roads, then eventually (after some strange turns and intersections) get to the Bugak skyway. Head toward "Palgakjeong."
For out of the city, I head north to Gayang or Uijeonbu, then hit up the mountains north and between those cities, like the Paju Dam area.
On the southeast side, take Hwy 3 toward Gwangju and hit up the mountain/forest drive over there. I recommend a map or road atlas for the ones out of the city. |

Thanks, Bippitybop... we have a friend who lives up in Uijeongbu so maybe I'll ask him what's good to see in that area. Cheers! |

I've heard they rent bikes in Jeju, but where else can I rent motorbikes in Korea? Is it possible, because I've yet to see it.
I've always wanted to goto a coastal city and rent a motorbike to drive around for a day. |

Your Korean insurance covers motorcycle injuries if you aren't at fault and if everything with you and your bike is kosher (license, insurance). This has been done to death on this board.
As for a good day trip, it really depends where you live. I have been around the Buan peninsula a few times. Nice beaches and scenery. You can even take a ferry out to a nearby island a ride around there. Good times. |

Cangel and pocari, do you know of any insurance companies that cover you if you ARE at fault? I have HiCar insurance, they won't give me personal body protection insurance. |
