As many of us Canadian teachers know there is another PM election coming this month. I'm sure most of you have watched the debate (www.ctv.ca) or will eventually. As important as the US election is, the Canadian election matters to us Canadians more than what will happen south of the 49th.

It's important because, though we're expats we are still a part of our nation and we are still able to have our voice heard to say what goes on in our country.

It's important to the nation that we have a leader that can make sure our programs that are in place are funded and that we can still afford them. We also need to make sure that the incumbent leader does what they say they are going to do. The Liberals and the Conservatives have been in power since the dawn of time and the NDP and Greens have never had a shot at messing up the nation.

Who do you feel best represents your opinion on the role of Canada?

Who do you feel will do the best job taking care of our nation (for the next 6 months Rolling Eyes ) until the next PM comes in?

What do you think of the parties and their leaders in general?

Sorry they're only popular in the retarded part of NL that you're from. And the communist party can't be elected anyway since, as you know, communism can't really be elected into power. Also please form proper sentences and try not to be ignorant of other people. Only 5% of the world lives in the US. While I realize that .5% live in Canada, we do have a system that needs to be maintained and that means something to a lot of us. Go troll somewhere else. If you're not really interested in a thread don't post. You don't see Canadians calling Americans derogatory things when they talk about the November election.

Oh, you also forgot to vote leg-humper.

I think I'm going to vote Green. It will be a protest vote as they have less of a chance than Satan in my rural Alberta riding, but I want Canada out of Afghanistan, liberalization of drug laws, more private involvement in healthcare and others.

I would've voted for the Progressive Conservative Party, but they've been taken over by neo-conservatives and libertarians and become just the Conservative Party.

I'm at a real loss as to who to vote for. I think I might just vote for a fringe party in protest. I really don't like any of the parties or the leaders. I'm going to be moving Nov 1 so it won't even make sense to vote for the MP who I think might best represent my riding.

I don't care if you've been posting longer than the Han river has been running calling someone you don't know something derogatory isn't normal or jocular. Now I don't know what part of Canada you're from where you go around and call everyone a hoser but it ain't like nigga... you can't say it to another Canadian just cause they are one. I am sorry for calling you an American that was out of line... but whatever put it in your head that you know me well enough to call me something like that is beyond me. Would you like it if someone kicked you in the head and then said "Awe can't you take a joke?"

I vote PC because they stand up for the west of Canada, which has been treated like 2nd class citizens for years.

3 out of the 4 western provinces are now 'have' provinces, and Ontario will soon become 'have-not'.

West is best.

Yes well we wouldn't want to look out for the country as a whole now would we? It would be good if we evacuated the Maritimes and waited for the US to annex it. We need a leader who will look out for Canada from Sea, to Sea, to Sea. Not from Lake Ontario, to Sea, to Treeline.

Calling someone a hoser- not okay
Insulting Newfoundlanders and/ or developmentally delayed folks depending on your perspective- fine

Keep playing the humorless uptight victim there, champ. It suits you.

Joshua, while you seem genuine in discussing Canadian politics and its important ramifications for all Canadian expats, you seem to have very little insight into the humour of Bob and Doug Mackenzie (aka Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas), of Strange Brew lore...

http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Academy/9134/

The real question is this - how do you expect to engage people in dialogue by snapping at a fairly innocent and well-known quote of beloved Canadian comedy? Comparing "ya hoser" to a kick in the head just screams of lunacy. Seriously.

This, people, is why Dave's has been sucking major a$$ in the last little while...

Exactly.
