I have been to neither and they sound very similar so I thought I would see if any posters had any opinions. Has anyone been to both are they similar? Any Benefits one has over the other? Thanks for any info.

I haven't been to SGP in a while, but CGP seems to have more green space that you can actually use. Also, the zoo at CGP is free. Last, I can walk to CGP in 15 minutes. SGP is an hour away. So, for me, CGP is better.

SGP is bigger. CGP zoo is small and half the animals are not even there. The monkey building at CGP is straight depressing.

If you want to go someplace that's in Seoul and free, go to CGP. If you want to see Lions, Hippos, Elephants, Rhino's, etc... go to SGP.

Yes!! The zoo at SGP is very good, as opposed to CGP (dirty and missing animals). More green space in SGP, too.

I haven't been there in 3 years, but the last time I went, I found Children's Grand Park to be apalling. It wasn't so much a zoo as an AIDS Clinic/Concentration Camp for animals. It was certainly not anything children should be seeing and certainly not grand (it was technically a park, though, so the title isn't entirely misleading). It wasn't entirely bad, though. The wretched sight of the jailed animals wasting away is assuaged by the sight of children laughing and throwing shrimp sticks at their open sores, coupled by the aggresively happy techno nusery rhymes that are blasted from the loudspeakers (the loudspeakers are well fed and taken care of). I think the point of the zoo is to desensitize the children to the captive misery of other creatures, which will be useful later in their lives when they start working at a corporations and going to room salons.

I went to CGP a few weeks back and was pleasantly surprised. No, the exhibits are not the greatest (reminds me of zoos back home in the 80's), but overall the layout of the place (with lots of greenspace to it) felt very relaxing.

Plus, the entrance was free!! Very Happy

Seoul Grand Park zoo was very nice. A good collection of animals, especially the tropical birds. Not nearly as appalling of conditions as I had been led to expect.

I started going to SGP way in 2002. Back then it was a prison camp for animals, especially in the summer heat. However, over the years it has been undergoing a very slow renovation. Now most of the animals are in much better habitats and therefore much better health. Ihope to see this trend continue, as I feel that given some time and effort it could be a very fun place for childern.
