You know like the classic orange pumpkin used for jack o' lanterns that look like the plastic trick or treat candy buckets.
I saw some small ones for sale back in July in a large store and the jack o' lantern thing crossed my mind, but that was still 3 months away. (can't remember where I was at, but I was on vacation traveling around Korea)
I am searching for an orange pumpkin and oil face paint, but just can't seem to triangulate the coordinates of such items with time running out on me.
Anyone help me? |

I saw some really big orange ones the other day in my neighborhood. First time to see them in Korea I think. Probably doesn't help you any, but just saying, it was unusual. |

I bought half a one from EMart the other day, and made some lovely soup with it. |

Korean pumpkins are not very orange, and even worse, they are squatty. It makes it hard to carve a good jack o'lantern.
Everland had huge orange and white pumpkins last year. I suppose they grew them specially for their Halloween display.
I might have to stoop to carving a watermelon if I don't come across a not-so-squatty pumpkin this weekend. |

Note to all: If you are going to be here next Halloween...give me a buzz. I've already used up/gave away my pumpkins this year, but will plant even more seeds next year. 'Mercan Pun'kinz that is.

OK, where's the bright orange pumpkins? Once again. I want to cut Jack O lanterns with students to do a little Halloween and then use the flesh to make great pie out of.
There's many of these off color odd shaped small pumpkins growing here and there, but no real pumpkins. I bought one of those Korean pumpkins last year, but it made a terrible Jack O lantern and it didn't smell and taste richly like orange pumpkin. |

ask your students - find one who understands what you are looking for and then send a note home to their mom - with a picture if necessary
they are grown here in the country - I've seen them - you need to go to a country market - |

Wow, I'm in Gangwon country, but haven't seen any. There's Korean pumpkin plants growing all over the place, but no orange pumpkins to be seen. Great idea on sending a picture home with the kids. I can also ask my co-teachers as well.
It would be awesome to get some of them. I was in Changwon last year and my hagwon did Halloween and bought pumpkins, but not orange pumpkins as no one knew where to get any. |

The Korean ones aren't awful for making jack o'lanterns. The best thing is there isn't much guts to clear out of them. |

I looked all over for pumpkins (아줌마 selling stuff on the street), but had no luck. They only had squash. I told them I wanted a pumpkin, but they all kept telling me I don't want a pumpkin because these taste better!! I needed a couple of kilograms for some pumpkin ale I was making. All I could find was a quarter of a tiny pumpkin at LotteMart for 5,000won.
I ended up buying a 5 squash off of a lady for 5,000won. We'll see what it tastes like... |

I bought mine at The J-Mart at Junggye Station Exit 1. They aren't exactly nice but oh well.
There are some Halloween decoration shops in Namdaemun market. There's a shop that has halloween costumes and might have face paint. I also saw a shop at Ewha Woman's University that had decorations and costumes. |
