I wish this was a joke. WTF is with Hollywood and butchering the classics for the sake of making a few dollars on unsuspecting twenty-somethings. Bastards are already remaking The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Bastards used up their infinity card and just keep putting stuff in the washing hoping to get lucky with this crap.
I believe Red Dawn was made a year or two before Top Gun.

Oh, good lord. I fell asleep during the first one. That did nothing to impress my (first) date who, as it turned out, was a right wing nut and led to no second date. |

RD starts off pretty neat, especially if you were of high school age. Kids looking out their class window and russian paratroopers are landing on their lawn (how do these planes get past NORAD?) and then they proceed to shoot up the school. |

classic film I liked it a lot when I first saw it back in the mid eightys
the remake well, that just shows you how dried up hollywood is these days.
hope they dont cast some idiots in the leads!
couldnt think of any talent worth putting into it someone around 18-22 years old I guess..
Im thinking shia labeouf might be to old..
I'm predicting straight to video with some tv stars and b grade actors.. |

This was published in Slate last week...all about 'Red Dawn' and how awesome it seemed to teenagers at the time. Tagline is, "its portrait of Russia is dated. Its portrait of America is timelyand terrifying."

Worth a read. |

Perhaps that was the problem. I was way past high school age and the thing made no sense. Just an appeal to right wing paranoia and testosterone, of which I had more than my fill in my classes (several families of John Birchers in my district). |

The new one will probably be a political statement against the current administration. Little from Hollywood seems to avoid this temptation these days. |

We spent most of the early 80's, at the river, sucking down rips and talking about
1. Chicks we'd never score with
2. Sports
3. Whatcha gonna do when the commies come?
What a damn waste of time |

It will end up the same way "Day of the Dead" did; skipping the mainstream theater audience and going straight to the DVD shelves.....but I think the action and cast of that movie much warranted at least 3 weeks in the theaters......shame
You can't replace Swayze or any of the other original cast, even with so-called "Big-names" in today's Hollywood......
But I will end up watching it on www.watch-movies.net when and if it comes out.... |
