Here is a great response |
Fantastic. I loved the serious, just short of ominous, music. And the "ties to McCain" description of the commitee's conservative funders was exactly what needed to be said.
Though I will note that they didn't mention the Obama fundraiser that Ayers held at his home and which Obama attended. That omission may come back to haunt them(even though I'm sure Obama just attended it as one fundraiser among hundreds), because McCain has lately been spinning the theme as "well, we're not saying he's a terrorist, just that he's not being truthful about his past".

Surprisingly, McCain said he is going to bring this up in the next debate...what is he thinking???
|
I dunno. He must think that he has a real humdinger of an angle from which to attack on this issue, because if he just drags out the old "palling around with terrorists" theme, he's not gonna get anywhere. My money's on him playing up the "honsesty" theme, instead. |

I checked out the pajamasmedia, because I figured they'd have the most devastating stuff...

Without knowing the extent of the relationship, it is impossible to be certain why Obama is concealing it. At a minimum, I would guess that he would prefer not to explain to middle America why he chose to have a longtime association with a domestic terrorist and hard left radical. It is also a probable source of embarrassment that the Chicago Annenberg Challenge was viewed as a failure. |
Sure, sounds quite plausible. However...

But it is possible there is more to hide. The tax returns of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge are available (1998, 1999) and include disbursements made by the group, so if Chairman Barack was funneling money to absurd left wing projects the public would soon find out. But what if Ayers advocated some now-embarrassing left-wing proposal supported by Obama but rejected by the full board? Since it was never funded, that moment of awkwardness would show up in the currently-concealed board minutes but not the tax returns. Steve Diamond noted that an early disbursement of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge was to a group led by former student radical Mike Klonsky. Is No Radical Left Behind the sort of Hope and Change on which Obama wants to campaign?
|
Unless that possible "now-embarrassing left-wing proposal" turns out to be something like teaching kids to burn American flags or something, this strikes me as a bit of desperation on the part of pajamasmedia.
I still say they're better off playing on Obama's evasiveness, rather than his supposed radical sympathies. |

If everyone was held accountable for things they did in their youth (re: Ayers), George W Bush would not have been president fo 8 years. I really do hope the McCain campaign follows this lead as eagerly as you have. Then Obama will have this election in the bag.
The main hinge of any 'connection' between Ayers / Klonsky and Obama is the Annenberg Challenge, a public school reform project in Chicago. Who funded this communist organisation? Walter Annenberg, the billionaire Republican philanthropist who served as Richard M. Nixon's ambassador to the U.K.
The New Party sounds like just the organisation that the US needs. Thanks for the link!
Go on, have at it. Whatever you do, don't talk about the economy. McCain isn't and look at how well it's working. |

I think I have been balanced in posting the links that I have posted.
You can draw your conclusions based on those facts.
If you're still comfortable voting for Obama after reading about his character references then by all means vote with your comfort.
By the way I say the same for those voting for McCain, before you vote for McCain please read about the Keating 5 and his connections there, if you are still comfortable voting for McCain with full knowledge of his Keating 5 connections then by all means vote with your comfort.
My only motive is to inform.
Keep in mind the Watergate Incident was in the news before Nixon was re-elected. |
