|
|
I've heard an as yet unconfirmed allegation that four former English Channel staff have not been paid their end of contract bonus. A wait of two months beyond due date was mentioned in one case. My source is a former EC employee (I used to work for them a fair while back myself).
Story is that the four in question are keeping quiet (so far) not wanting to rock the boat in the hope that the payment will be made. If this is true, other potential employees and current employees need to be warned, hence this post. I hope it's not true, but...knowing EC, it seems quite possible.
Does anyone else have any information about this? And before anyone asks, English Channel is indeed the company that makes staff wear blue polyester lab coats. |

Yes I have heard about the payment problems at English Channel also from a former co-worker at EC.
In the past, I was critical of the low pay and work conditions at EC but I always stated that at least there were no problems receiving proper payment on time. With this new development, there is really nothing positive about EC at all anymore.
Avoid. |

It seems to be quite common for (some) companies (even those with mnay branches) to wait a while before paying the final salary/severance.
My last job was with one of them.... so a couple of weeks before I finished I politely reminded them of the Labour Law stating all monies owed must be paid within 10 days of finishing...adding that I would be generous and give them until the regular payday (making it 17 days).
I did get it, a month after I left...unheard of for anyone up to that point to get paid out so early. Worth trying this tactic..or at least pointing out the law. |

Pointing out the law to an EC manager? Nice idea, but this is the company that states that it is allowed to change the policy & procedure document at will, while claiming that this document constitutes part of the contract (so in their estimation they can effectively alter the terms & conditions of the contract any time they choose to do so). Nonsensical, of course, but try explaining that to someone in EC. Incidentally, the person who insists this is not Korean, but Canadian. |

EC are currently being sued by the former partners of the company (this is from a very reliable source). EC are facing a financial crisis and I would not be surprised if they collapsed next year.
Everyone should stay clear of EC. |
