Hey guys-
wondering if anyone can give me advice, here's my story:
I worked for this place called Chicago Language Institute located nearby Suwon- for about 2 months- however, when the second month came- he didn't pay me my overtime. I went to his office, asked for my overtime pay, and he rudely told me to go away and teach. I refused, because I wanted my overtime pay and told him that I will not go teach unless he promises my payment of 1.6 million won. He told me it was not important and that I "better go teach". I am on a F4 visa and had no reason to stay if he was not going to pay me on time. I told him if he did not pay me, I would go- so he told me "that's not important, go teach"- so I just said, "Okay, bye". I guess my question is- can I somehow get my pay?- or I should just forget it?... ugh- this is such a headache.. but i feel that even if i lose- I should do something about it- so he doesn't pull this stunt on a real foreigner with a E2 visa... I was just lucky to be a F4- |

Don't deal with the boss any more. He won't treat you are seriously or will try to pay you off with less money.
Call the labour office and they will now do all your negotiating for you. Your boss will try to ignore this and play all sorts of games. Stick to your guns, write down the facts accurately when they ask and collect your money.
My husband also sued for being unlawfully fired. We sued through the labour office, not because of the money, but for my husband's reputation. We didn't know if it would be worth it because he had been there only a few months. He also walked out when he found out he was fired and didn't teach his remaining classes. Happily, the labour office took it seriously and we were rewarded with a little financial justice. He's also on an F4. |
