There is an interesting exchange on the 'news as entertainment' issue here:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/

Click the button for Grand Old Panic, but if you want to catch some of the references in the exchange, watch the last part of More Troops? just below it. (Maddow does a section on Paul Wolfowitz).

The Grand Old Panic is rather reminiscent of when Jon Stewart chewed out whoever it was on live TV.

The guy that Maddows squares off with is David Frum, who I believe coined the term "Axis of Evil" for Bush in his State of the Union address.

Frum is Canadian born and raised, and only became an American citizen last year.

His mother was in my opinion, the greatest female news anchor/host ever on Canadian television, Barbara Frum. She hosted "the Journal" and was the female Canadian equivalent of Ted Koppel. She passed away from cancer some years ago.

To what Frum said in the interview, my question would be, it's interesting that he is saying this now, as the National Republican Party is going down in flames. Where was he when the GOP was winning elections?
