How much is cable? What sort of cable and Internet bundle packages can you get in SK? Right now, I use KT for Internet, but haven't got any monthly plans for the TV. Any recommendations will be appreciated. (BTW, I rarely watch TV, but the boss bought the TV anyways, so I don't really need an extensive cable plan.)

CnM cable TV

35,000won per month. (Cnm can also give you a cable tv/internet deal) - but I prefer KT Megapass as my internet provider.

KT megapass provides me with a PREMIUM internet service for 39,000won per month. (I have never had a problem with them). and they like having foreigner customers.

anyway Cnm (approx 100 channels) - but only a few are in English (Discovery, CNN, etc)

Oh - I MISS AFN channel (Dave letternman, Conan Obrian show) !!

If you want more English movie/animation/cartoon channels from CnM- you just pay about 5,000won extra per extra channel per month.

OR - on the remote - you also have Pay-per-view OPTION with CNM (similar to a hotel) where you browse through what movies you want to watch - choose one - then type in your pin number - and the movie you chose starts playing immediately (however, mostly Korean movies).


I didn't bother with the extra channels - I mainly watch Discovery channel just to fall asleep - as I prefer using the computer and downloading movies on the computer via rapidshare (rapidshare is only about 50,000won per year).

So I have unlimited movies on my computer - beats TV.

Although if you just phone their number (or have a Korean phone for you) CnM has their own offices in every gu (Gangnam-gu, Sonpa-gu, Gangdon-gu etc) - so you don't need to go to their main office - just phone them and they will send someone to your house (almost the same day) from their office in your neighbourhood area.




The other one is "SKY" however they don't really like "foreigner customers" and they will insist on you paying a HUGE fee to have a satellite dish installed and insist on you giving your credit card details to them so they can take heaps of money out of your credit card each month.

However with SKY you get lots of Football, and BBC World and History channel and National Geographic channell.

SKY has different packages - depending on what channels you want (approx 150 channels).

Depnds on where you live (for example if you live in an offictel) you may NOT be allowed to install a satellite dish or join SKY. (My officetel building told all residents in the officetel that we could ONLY have CnM - no satellite dish. Many buildings do this - as they don't want their buildings looking all cluttered and ugly on the outside).

p.s. - If your BOSS bought a NEW TV for you - (and it is a NEW TV) you might as well plug the tv into your computer - and just download tv shows and movies on your computer and watch them on your tv.

Or save the movies/tv shows to a USB stick and plug the USB stick into your TV.

what sort of cable do I need to plug the tv into my computer? I see on the back of the tv a 15-hole plug. My laptop also has the 15-hole slot. Are these the ones?
