Hello All,

For those who haven't been following, Amber, a 23 year old American who arrived in Busan at the beginning of September, became ill quite suddenly. Her blood levels were extremely low and the situation was very critical and scary. Her blood levels dropped to 10% of what normal levels should be. Amber has a very rare blood type, O negative, and this posed a problem considering there was a limited amount of blood available for her in Korea. Only 7% of the world population has this blood type, and only 0.1% of Koreans carry this blood.

The word spread fast via facebook, Dave's ESL cafe, and the Korean Herald. So many foreigners with O negative blood came forward to help out. The foreign community really pulled together in a time of need.

Amber is presently recovering at the hospital, and both her parents are in Busan to take her home when she is able to travel. We still need your help. It's not blood we need this time around. Amber has received so much medical treatment during her time in the hospital, not all of which is covered by the Korean National Health Care Plan (MRI's are not covered, and she's had several). Aside from that, both her parents have had to deal with sudden airfare expenses in order to be with their daughter during this difficult time. She will also still require medical treatment when she returns home, and she has no medical coverage in America.

Aside from that, we will be setting up donation boxes across Busan on October 31st (Halloween parties people!) and Saturday November 1st.
