I am staying for a second contract but they seam confused about my severance pay.

If you work in a public school when should you receive your severrance pay?

I think I should get it on the date that my first contract finishes but they just look at me like I am strange for asking for it.

I've finished three public contracts at two jobs. At my first job (two contracts finished) severance pay was deposited on the last day of the contracts. At my present job (one contract finished) severance pay was deposited on the last payday.
