I live near Gwangju... kind of sick of hanging out there every weekend. What do people think of Daegu and Daejon? Which is better for a weekend? I'll be going with a group who mainly wants to party.
Any advice as to what areas to go to, where to stay, etc? |

I've only gone to Daejon once, by mistake. I saw little that made me ever want to go back there again. |

Stay away from the foreigner scene in Daejeon and you will have a decent night out. |

Anytime you get further away from Seoul the xenophobia meter is going to break. Daegu is in good ol' racist SE Korea. Now Daegu is not a bad town but it's not Seoul. The nightlife is lamer and more soldier infested. And if you get tired of Daegu there' only Pusan (again SE Korea) or back to Seoul. |

Daegu is great! I've been there 6 times and loved every minute of it! The night scene is tame, but its nice because there are only a few foreigner bars and all within walking distance. |

I second this one. The foreigner scene in Daejeon used to be pretty cool, but there seem to be a lot of knobs around trying to make problems. If you go to Daejeon I would stay away from the foreigner bars. |

I guess I'd agree with the sentiments about Daejeon. It's a nice city, very university orientated and the people are quite calm and collected. However, having been here for 8 months I too am weary of the foreigner bar scene here. It's very incestuous, and quite bitchy. |

I've partied in both cities. (live outsid eof Daejeon last year, and outside daegu this year)
Daejeon has less options and the crowd is a bit off.
Daegu is much more army infested, but i haven't gotten the Itaewon vibe there. There's a decent club scean in the area just outside Daegu Train Station, |

What if one would like to go to foreigner bars in Daejeon? Where would one go?
Bar/Club names and location would be good. |
