Hi. I'm in the process of applying for University jobs and need to provide 2 letters of recommendation with my applications. I presume these could be from a previous Uni supervisor who knows my academic field and ability well, or from a previous employer who I have worked for. Does anybody have any info on what information these letters should contain? Has anybody else been through the application process and got any tips/advice for applying to Uni's in Korea. Cheers. |

Most people in a position of authority like bosses and professors will already know pretty well what such a letter should contain, since they'll usually have written them before.
It's about what you would expect. Bosses talk about what a good worker you are and professors talk about what a diligent student you were, usually keeping it toward skills relating to the job you're applying for.
Professors are better for things like grad school applications and bosses are better for job applications, naturally. Unless most of your jobs were things like Dunkin Donuts, in which case go for professors.
Obviously for a Korean job they will like Korean references a lot better than foreign ones. |
