Going to be living in Jamsil area so it seems, should be arriving in a week or two only have interview at Consulate left to do and that is this Wednesday in NYC. Anyone else gonna be in NYC around then and going to Seoul? If so message me and we should meet up. My buddy Chris is coming too NYC and staying in Jamsil too. Anyone who lives or has lived in Jamsil area? Any info you could provide about it? Thanks all.

Jamshil is a decent part of the city. You'll have easy access to Western restaurants: TGIFriday and Sizzler are there. Shopping at Lotte World and HomePlus. Books at Kyobo. Nightlife in Shinchon a couple of subway stops away.
You could have done much worse. |

I worked for a Korean company 12 years ago at the main intersection in Chamshil. On the corner opposite the Lotte World Hotel, there is a building called SIGMA TOWER. If memory serves me, there's an olympic size pool on one of the basement levels, and a sauna on another basement level - don't know the costs because I had an automatic membership through my company. |

i live in jamsil. i've really enjoyed it. some really great korean restaurants (but who doesn't have favorites in their 'hood?)....
i'm likely moving to a different part of seoul for a new job and i will certainly miss living so close to olympic park and seokcheon lake... both lovely places to jog or stroll.
let me know if you have any questions. i'd love to take you to my favorite shyabu shyabu (=yummy food) sometime as i'll probably still be in the city.
what school will you be working for? |

Thank you all for the information, ali.eppy my buddy Chris and I will be working for a school called Mrs. Changs Institute. Talked with a few foreigners who work there now and it all seems on the up and up. Not on any blacklist or what not. Going to NYC tomorrow for consulate interview and should be arriving within a week or so. WOO WOO.

Hey,
I know this is irrelevant, but does the word 'Jamsil' sound like some kind of ointment to anybody else? |

You're welcome to email if you have questions or want to hang out in Bangi-dong (your new hood) anytime...

AND... i think of the korean word for tuna when I say jamsil, more than ointment... |

If you're really pronouncing it as Jamsil instead of Jamshil then yeah. |

A friend has been offered a job with LCI Kid's Club. I don't know the money involved, but does anyone know anything, bad or good, about this part of Jamsil, or this school?
Thanks for any help. |

I've been there a few times. It seems pretty nice. I'd rather live there than where I live (Bundang), you're a lot closer to Seoul. Where I live, it takes about 45 minutes just to get to Kangnam. Oh yeah, and my friend said that there's a nice red-light district up there, if that's your thing. But I'm pretty sure that a lot of prostitutes won't "serve" foreigners. |

I don't live in Jamsil, but I've been there several times and I love it! It's a great neighborhood, especially if you like sports... you have the Sports Complex nearby. |

There is nothing really fun in the area. You have to go off somewhere to have fun. |
