|
|
I have a question concerning the start of the public school year
in 2009 - March. Currently, I am working at a middle school.
I would like to sign on to another public middle school contract
but not at the same school in Seoul.
I am unsure of the process. What documents will I have to
submit, if any ? Do I have to work through a recruiter?
Or, do I speak directly with someone at SMOE ?
Particularly, if the school I would go to would be
under the EPIK umbrella.
For those that have done this, how likely is it to request
a city and have said request honoured ? I have one year
under SMOE and I am, I believe, on good terms with the principal.
What say you ? |

IF you want to change from SMOE/ETIS to NIIED/EPIK you will PROBABLY be relocated OUT OF SEOUL.
The documents will be the same as a new visa with the possible exception of the CRC (for EPIK not immigration).
If you want to avoid the recruiter you can talk to NIIED/EPIK directly.

Also of note:
IF you change schools you WILL lose your 2 week home leave AND
You will lose the value of the airticket home(since you are NOT leaving Korea).
Your new school will pay for your visa run if required.

I apologize for the lapse in response to my thread.
Thanks Tom.
I was feeling that they might superficially entertain
my request, but try to plant me in some town in
wazoo. As I have a vested interest in a particular
city-Deajon, a last minute change would severely
complicate things.
Do you think if I used my initial recruiter (WnPlay)
to push for a particular city that this would be a useful
strategy ?
I know that I will forsake my 2 week leave, but there
is no way I would stay at my current school. |
