So, today the girls' middle school I spend half a week at had a "picnic." Said "picnic" consisted of movies at the local mall, letting them run around the mall for a while then calling it a day.

The reason I'm writing this thread is, the movie a large number of the students viewed was Eagle Eye. For those who have seen it, is this an appropriate movie for middle school girls?

Apart from being a mind knumbing, 90 minute train wreck, it had a lot of coarse language and violence. What do you think people? Also, Shia Lebeourf; turd samwich or big giant douche?

Not a great movie, but good for a "fun" movie. They show much, much worse things on OCN and Super Action. What was is rated in the states? PG-13 I'm guessing. Very suitable for Korean middle schoolers.

I don't think it's that bad for middle schoolers. Has Shia LeBeouf been in a decent movie though? I've seen three with him (Indiana Jones, Transformers, Eagle Eye) and they were all steaming piles. I'm thinking I'll just avoid any movie with him in it from now on.

Thanks for the reassurances you guys. I found myself covering my eyes and ears so much during that movie. I just wish people would demand higher artistic standards than 15 mins of dialogue, 35 minutes devoted to plane, train, car and boat crashes. Chuck in explosions for 12 minutes then mash an incoherent plot in there somewhere.

I'm sure it will do just fine at he box office though.

Here's one NOT to show them: Pathology. I just bought that one at the local street bootlegger. A very disturbing movie.

If it's rated as (12) in Korea it's all right. Often in those movies the language is really toned down in the Korean subtitles and violence doesn't seem to be much of a reason for giving a movie a higher age rating in Korea.

I made the mistake of showing American Beauty to a mixed bunch of middle school students once. I stopped it once it hit the falling flowers part. I forgot about all the creepy aspects in the movie. Students, especially the girl students found the movie gross. Although some of the boys enjoyed Mina Suvari and her red flowers. Not making that mistake again.

Now I mostly stick to cartoons like the Simpsons, Ratatouille, Happy Feet and Hood Winked. I'm thinking about Mars Attacks now. Also, I only show these movies in February, July and December, when it seems only attendance matters, since all the tests and assignments are done by then.

American Beauty? Really? I showed Ratatoille for a camp but for a treat and with sub titles. It's good to keep them quiet but some of the French accents baffle even me. Having said that, I enjoyed it both times I watched it.

Violence doesn't seem to be that big a deal here. I went out with a Korean chick who was completely impervious to violence. I find those "torture porn" flicks, such as Saw, Hostel etc completely reprehensible but she had me sit thru Pathology at a DVD Bang. I could hardly get a woody after it Wink .
