| Has anyone seen this? I can buy the original at Costco, but that's it. I'd like to get the spray-on kind that has no calories. |

hydrogenated fat (trans fat)
Unlike other dietary fats, trans fats are neither essential nor salubrious[1] and, in fact, the consumption of trans fats increases one's risk of coronary heart disease[2] by raising levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol and lowering levels of "good" HDL cholesterol.[3] Health authorities worldwide recommend that consumption of trans fat be reduced to trace amounts. Trans fats from partially hydrogenated oils are more deleterious than naturally occurring oils.[4]
"trans fatty acids are not essential and provide no known benefit to human health",[1] whether of animal or plant origin.[33] Second, while both saturated and trans fats increase levels of LDL cholesterol (so-called bad cholesterol), trans fats also lower levels of HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol);[2] thus increasing the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD). The NAS is concerned "that dietary trans fatty acids are more deleterious with respect to CHD than saturated fatty acids".[2] This analysis is supported by a 2006 New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) scientific review that states "from a nutritional standpoint, the consumption of trans fatty acids results in considerable potential harm but no apparent benefit."[4]
Because of these facts and concerns, the NAS has concluded there is no safe level of trans fat consumption.
Have a little read of the wiki article:

People mistakenly think that crap is better for them than butter. You are way better off eating butter than that rubbish mate.
There's a more sensationalist take on it here:

Hope this helps and that you stop eating that junk!

Ah i stand corrected; maybe its got it in the non low fat version?
All I know for sure is that you will find that there is a lot of crap in it as it was probably made (formulated!!!) in a laboratory!
I would guess it does have trans fat but a very small amount which I'm assuming they replace with gelatin (edit, just seen the link you posted and it seems they do use gelatin) or something to bulk it up and give it the spread texture. look for an asterix on the 'no trans fat' claim.
I wouldn't eat it if you paid me, but that's just my opinion (I like to keep food natural) and I respect it if you want to go ahead.
Ultimately everything is bad for you e.g it's not a good idea to eat a shed load of butter as it will be bad for you. I just like to keep the natural stuff in moderation myself. But I also can't stand preachers so I'll stop here.
p.s when we getting a new podcast m8? |

It seems the only people bitching about gelatin are nutty vegans. Of course, they try to make it sound as disgusting as possible to scare people away from it.
I like how, "it's not very nutritious" is supposed to be bad.
So what? I get enough nutrition from other products. |

| To be fair, if you want to convince someone to do something healthy, you should probably go for the Botox thread over the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter thread. |
