i'm looking to record some vocals at a professional studio. anyone know of some good ones? i'm looking for studios more geared toward hip-hop, but anything will do as long as the quality's good.

i left my home studio at home, and i'm not sure i wanna go the same route of doing everything myself right now, especially since prices in korea are more expensive. any help will be appreciated. thanks.

Where? In Seoul, Daejon, Busan???

If in Seoul, they are all over the place. Have a Korean friend "naver" for you and he/she should be able to find one in your neighborhood (or close to it) in minutes.

It would be best to go to Hongdae, where there are engineers actually experienced with that particular genre.

No, and especially not for hip-hop. It wouldn't be hard to find though.

Listen to Racetraitor...he's a masterful musician. Can't play an instrument...never could hack it as a roadie either....Yeah his advice on anything music related is gold.

I recorded my intro at Macho Studios in Itaewan!

It's located over on the eighth floor of the old Pizza Hut building. The studio time is a reasonable price, but you'll have to bring a translator (they don't speak English).

thanks for the info. i liked the quality of your track. you mind if i ask how much you paid? i'm guessing they charge by the hour for recording and an extra charge by the hour for mixing.

the studio i recently recorded at was pretty good, until the mixing engineer pulled a k-style power play and refused to have his name on the credits unless we re-mastered the recording because 'it has too much clipping'. fine, then, we won't credit you. WE paid YOU, not the other way around!

what a douche move. what's next? mix guys complaining about the album artwork? anyone who actually cares enough about what studio you recorded at knows the difference between mix and mastering decisions!

Interesting... Joe what does it cost to join a boxing gym in Seoul? Where are some good ones? I'm just looking for one that I can hit a bag at. I'm tired of my wife beating me up. It's embarrasing! I need to get into shape and put that 48kg girl where she belongs!

I believe it was $150 for 3 hours? A couple hours getting the track recorded, and then an hour engineering.

I'll double-check on the price. I have a receipt somewhere...

When I was putting the video together, I put that at the end as a joke, but then when I editted it out, I missed it! So it stayed Smile

Tons of good gyms in Seoul. What area are you in? They're expensive, btw. At least 100,000 per month, sometimes more. Worth it, though.

Anyway, Michael Scott, be sure to post your song here when it's done!

I watched joe boxers video too. I think for a guy in Korea, he did pretty good. But let's be honest. Nobody back home is gonna watch that. I mean where does he fit in? Is he black or is he white? Well if he's black, he sure aint no snoop dog and if he's white he's no Eminem. So he's trying to crack the Korean Kpop market and that is something that I take my hat off to him for even attempting. But Korea man, it's all about looking like a girl, looking like a homo, synchronized dancing, acting like a clown. Why bother recording here. Because it's cheap? What's the point? I sing too, but i'd be shy to throw my stuff out there to a Korean market that has one vision, one mind. Sean Kingston made it big doing the low budget youtube stuff, but has anyone else especially in a foreign country. I doubt it.
