such a moment in history!! from a country which committed genocide against so many native people, enslaved and traded in human beings and now the direct descendant of an African to be nominated and potentially raised up to the highest post in the United States - it blows my mind - totally !!
whether it would have been Obama or Hillary - WOW such a great time to be an American - I can easily say I haven't felt this good in 8 LONG years!!!
Friday nite Obama will accept the Democratic Party's nomination, some 45 years to the day of Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
GO OBAMA GO - !!

kinda reminds me of the days when on job applications it was common to ask women to write the date of their last period -  - as employers didn't want to hire a woman who was pregnant ??
even back to true segregation - I was very very young but recall the signs saying "colored" over bathrooms and water fountains - I drank out of one once and my mom admonished me for it - when she said they were for "colored" people I imagined in my head people of purple, pink, green - and where they were that I'd never seen them and really wanted to!! |

Of course there's going to be a new president: either Obama or McCain.
By the way, I have heard Obama's acceptance speech, and I like what he has to say, most of it that is. Not bad for campaign promise rhetoric. But where you're coming from, darling... just can it, will you. |
